I’ve had this product for about 6 months now, and so far, no ticket. I’m a fairly new user of radar detectors, so I cannot rate this product as a comparison to others, but in my opinion, this has been an average performing unit for me. My ticket count is zero so far, which is good, but part of this has to do with the fact that I’m not a chronic speeder and I’m fairly watchful of cops most of the time. There were several instances where the detector did not go off when I drove by a cop car, and I would have been caught had I been speeding. But I think that was because he did not have the radar on. I’m assuming he’s waiting for a speeding vehicle to use the radar to clock him/her.

I bought the Cobra ESD 6200 half a year ago and will finally write my longly announced epinion on it. Back then I went to the local SEARS store where they had a selection of models priced from $59 to $199. I chose the Cobra for $120 because from my un-informed perspective, it seemed to have all the features that the $199 model had. I know now that there are other models in the $400 range, with the Valentine ‘V1′ being one of the best.

The Cobra 9550 is an extremely useful tool in trying to get to your destination without added costs. It has a lot of great features besides radar and Laser (LIDAR for your techno geeks) detection on all bands. This unit has VG-2 alert and cloaking, which is a feature not all top model detectors have. It also has limited SWS capabilities, a Dot matrix display, 4 display dimmer settings, a 8 direction compass, and what”s called the strobe alert system.

I was in the market for a new radar detector when the one I owned started to misrepresent readings. I purchased a Fuzzbuster from Best Buy about 4 years ago. It cost me roughly $120.00. The reason I decided to purchase that radar detector was because it claimed it protected you 360 degrees around your vehicle. I found that was very interesting and I was big on performance, and not the way it looked. So I decided to purchase that product. After about 4 years of using that particular radar detector I noticed that it would go off continuously. I found this to be annoying sometimes because I could not determine if it was an officer or if it was another source that I was receiving.

The New 900 series Top of the Line Class(excluding 945, 946), offers strong detection in today’s world of traffic radar. The newer design is strong, heavier, better detection (then the older 855sti), and BRIGHTER text.
The Bel 950 comes with Visor mount, windshield mount, velcro, and cigarette spiral cord. The Visor mount can be tedious at times, because it is stiff and the spread is not wide for many visors. The windshield mount is confusing at first but when together it is better than other manufactures for design mounting. You can swivel it if you have (like the New Firebird/Camaro Windshield) a convex/concave windshield. The Cigarette plug is nice in a two piece assemble. The cigar plug can stay in and the cord can be put in a compartment with the detector.

The Whistler DE-1788 was my first purchase in radar detectors. I had researched and reviewed many Whistler and Cobra models. I was still on the fence about which brand I wanted to buy when I walked into Radio Shack and saw that this model was on sale. On clearance even!! I remember having read pretty good reviews on Whistler products and a positive review of this model so I purchased it for $99.99 prior to sales tax.
