I’ve had this product for about 6 months now, and so far, no ticket. I’m a fairly new user of radar detectors, so I cannot rate this product as a comparison to others, but in my opinion, this has been an average performing unit for me. My ticket count is zero so far, which is good, but part of this has to do with the fact that I’m not a chronic speeder and I’m fairly watchful of cops most of the time. There were several instances where the detector did not go off when I drove by a cop car, and I would have been caught had I been speeding. But I think that was because he did not have the radar on. I’m assuming he’s waiting for a speeding vehicle to use the radar to clock him/her.

Assuming I’m correct on the above statements, the distance detected for X, K and Ka bands are decent. In almost all cases, they were enough to get me to slow down if I needed to, but not as extensive as I would prefer. I’ve read people getting up to a mile warning on their detectors. My does not seem to have that kind of distance, but, again, they have been enough for me so far. I haven’t had the laser go off in my area yet, so I cannot comment on that aspect of its performance.

A few negatives about this unit - one is the voice alerts, which sound really bad and distorted and you cannot turn if off. The other thing is the suction, which has problems staying on. This may be a universal thing with all these suctions, but it’s kind of a pain to try to keep them to stay on. I think its due to dirty windows, and it is annoying enough that I don’t take the radar detector off unless I park in a really bad area. Finally, this detector falsely fairly often. Again, I have no reference to other radar detectors, but it does appear to false alot.

Overall, the radar detector has been a decent performer for me. I heard really good things about the , and while I wouldn’t mind getting one, I don’t think I’d pay $400 for one. I paid $100 for my . I normally only speed if I’m late for something, so I can’t justify paying $400 for one.
