This, basically, is a Radar Dectector like any other quality detector. Comes with all the bells and whistles (pun intended). Scans all bands (X, K, Ka) and Laser. Its programmable as all are, and you can set it up to your liking (brightness and loudness). Highway mode is very sensitive (found this out quickly when driving through the city), and the City Mode barely makes a chirp until being tagged by the real thing.

Now, what sets this little beauty apart from the rest of the radar crowd is this: its Cordless! Running on two AA batteries (which will last you 50 hours), it sits on your window or visor, without any cords to get in your way. I’ve used many a detector before, all with cords, and I loathed how they made my dash look. Especially when you have a cord to your Cell phone, or to your external CD player; enough is enough. Its a cordless world, my friends, it fine time that the radar-detector’s have finally come along.

For $200, its a bit on the expensive side. You could get more for $200, most likely a RD that has VG2 Stealth or more modes and higher sensitivity. The Laser on the Solo, while it works well, only has 2 sensors compared to the Escort 7500, which has 5. So, you’re basically sacrificing features for vanity. Which, depending on who you are, and what you drive, is either a good, or bad, thing.
