I had bought this detector back in 2001 in which at 1st worked great for me. It would detect cops in K band a mile away. It had saved me a few times but many times it didn’t. I had a bright red 2002 Mitsu Eclipse that just seemed to not be able to pull off the shoulder. Keep in mind that the detector was about a year old at this time. Well one day I was out doing about 90 with me and my sis through a 55. It was night and I wasn’t sure if the lights comming over the hill were going to be a cop so I slowed down to 70…still showing all clear on my detector I thought everything was fine until about 20 feet it gives me a 3 level warining. I was like oh $hit. Needless to say I got pulled over in my own driveway. After that I never relied on my cobra for anything besides the compass. Funny thing it worked great the 1st year. I’m not sure if it was because it was in different cars is what made the performance of the model go down. 1st car Chevy Lumina (moma’s 2nd Mazda MX-3 (1st real car) and 3rd was my new Eclipse. Although I had had to peel off the cobra my 1st 2 cars when they had been wrecked (not my flaut on both I might add…no really Well by Summer of 2002 I almost threw it out the window if my girlfriend hadn’t of stopped me. If the reason why the cobra quit working was because of the advancment of speed measureing devices then I’d say don’t DOn’t buy this one because you’ll have over $800 worth of tickets by the time you realize it was a mistake. I’ve just bought a Escort 8500 X50 BLUE so I’ll be updating bout that one later. Seems to me you get what you pay for.
