For many years, radar detectors were only used to notify the driver of a policeman ahead with a radar. Now, all that has changed with detectors such as the Cobra ESD-6700. Radar detectors such as this have revolutionized the technology of radar detectors.

The Cobra ESD-6700 has many options available that can be used for many more things than just checking for police cars coming up. Here are some of these great options:

1. It has 6 different bands for a multitude of purposes. These include X-band, K-band, Laser and Superwide Ka-band that are used by police cars these days. The others are Safety Alert and VG-2. Safety Alert is now used by any trains. This alert will notify you when an oncoming train is heading your way. It also warns of emergency vehicles and road hazards ahead. The VG-2 alert is actually invisible to VG-2 detectors that policemen use to determine if you have a radar detector or not.

2. Each alert has a separate audio and visual alert.

3. It has a ‘High Visibility Text Display.’ This will show different alerts for all police radar types and for the different Safety Alert detections.

4. It also has such options such as a City/Highway option, Auto and Manual Muting, a 4-level Dim button, and is backed by a one year limited warranty.

These are some of the many things I like about this radar detector. As you can probably tell, I got many of them off the box (I could never come up with some of those words).

The downfalls of this product that I have found are:

1. There are almost too many alarms. If you don’t turn the volume down, it gets very annoying because there are so many different alarms.

2. It is very visible. Maybe this is a future advancement, but everyone knows you have a radar detector when they meet you. If they could make something that sits on your dash instead of hanging from your windshield.

All in all, this is a great radar detector. It has many more options that I have ever really used. In a small town, I have never used the alert for oncoming trains. I don’t think that regular trains have these alarms, only passenger trains.

I would recommend this product to anyone who drives a lot and needs to be alerted to policemen, emergency vehicles, or anything else listed above.

I give this product a rating of a 5 because of the many great options and the security it gives me while I am driving. I have never had a ticket since I have had this radar detector.
