Save your money…in my opinion the PNI Traveller is worthless. I purchased my Traveller from Amazon in October and the first thing I noticed was that the low-battery alarm went off after only a couple hours of use. Using my superior analytical skills, I concluded that the batteries shipped with the unit were probably old. I replaced the batteries at least three times with the same result.
My next mistake (purchasing the unit was the first) was to contact PNI about the problem. Even though I had replaced the batteries more than once, their solution was to ship me new batteries. (Must be Response #1 in the corporate Help Desk manual.) Since they were adamant about this, I complied. Of course the new batteries failed as well. This process has now taken about four weeks.
I contacted PNI again and explained, again, that the batteries were not the problem. They finally agreed and supplied me with an RMA number to return the unit to them for repair. At my expense, of course. I returned the unit and about three weeks later I received a new unit from PNI. I used this unit for about a week and although the low-battery alarm did not come on immediately, it did after about three hours of use. In addition, the new unit sounded false Laser alarms almost constantly.
I contacted PNI again. Their solution send it to them again. After protesting they at least agreed to pay the postage. However, at this point I wanted nothing to do with PNI or their products. I contacted Amazon, which is not without its own problems, since they do not provide a telephone number, only Email. Because of all the time wasted trying to resolve the problem with PNI, Amazon said I could not return the unit to them. However, after some protesting, they finally agreed to take back the unit, but I did have to pay a $30 restocking fee seems kind of steep.
I have since bought a Beltronics cordless. It works great and I have not replaced the batteries. Final thought companies like PNI do not deserve your business.
