Recommended by Fast Driver… Blinder M20 XTreme Radar Detector
In my book Drive Fast, No Tickets (http://www.drivefastnotickets.com) I HIGHLY recommend the Blinder M20. In my case, it completely eliminated any laser related tickets. Period. Over two years and counting, and I have NEVER been surprised by a speed trap. Not once.
Recently, though, I have experienced a lot of false alarms; I suspect the unit has malfunctioned, blemishing an otherwise happy experience. I will probably have to replace it.
To properly use the M20, you need to understand what the ticket writer sees. First, in all 50 states, the laser operator must be within 1000 feet for any citation to be legal. That’s pretty close. And because of the nature of laser, they must be sitting still, pointing a very precise beam at a moving target: your car.
That means they often can’t get an accurate reading on you, and their gun will display an error message for the first few seconds. That is also what they see when your M20 is jamming the signal.
Usually within a second or two, a laser gun will trap an accurate speed, and you congratulations, you get a ticket. So the trick is to slow down quickly, then turn off your M20 and let Mountie measure a nice, law-abiding speed as you happily drive by.
I’ve done this more then 3 dozen times, and at least 15 times I have watched in my rear view as the car behind me gets pulled over.
The Blinder M20 is the single most important piece of equipment for the fast driver.
