Solo 5110 Review Escort Passport Solo Radar Detector

The 5110 cordless radar detector has been in both my cars for about 6 months now. You can program this thing to suit your tastes in the areas of volume, automute, 4 brightness settings, 5 radar sensitivity settings, start-up mode, different sounds, safety pilot warnings. It’s audio warnings are very clear as to what band is being detected and determining how close you are to smokey. You don’t need to look at your detector to figure out what’s going on. With it’s Automute feature the unit quiets down after 4 seconds so your warnings aren’t annoying. It’s easy to take down and hide from prying eyes. It has a front mounted on-off volume control which is rare to find these days and very easy to use. Great windshield mount, easy to use. If you so choose you can run it using an optional power cord. This unit all but never falses. Well written owners manual. I had to send the unit in once for a problem and not only did they fix the problem but they included an extra set of batteries, an extra windshield mount and they replaced a cosmetic item all at no charge. One week turnaround also. The only downside to this detector is it’s Ka band detection, which for me is acceptable in an urban environment, might not be on a rural/interstate scenario. When driving on the highway where Ka can find you with little warning I would use the cord option because the unit’s overall sensitivity is increased somewhat with it. Decent battery life. Reasonable construction. Once you get used to the cordless convenience you’ll never go back.

Never alone with this Solo S2! Escort Solo S2 Radar Detector

I’ll admit it…I’m often guilty of coveting thy electronic store’s new things. Even if I already have a fairly new gadget I like and use, I’m green with envy about a new product I wasn’t warned about that’s much cooler and much better than the thing I was stuck with. I know that’s a ridiculous, materialistic vice but hey…I suppose it could be worse. I just wish it was cheaper.

Escort Solo Cordless Radar Detector (another goodie review by the motorcycle cop) Escort Passport Solo Radar Detector

(NOTE: This is a continuation of radar detector opinions I have already written. Rather than have everyone grow tired of watching me repeat myself in each opinion, please read my opinions on the Bel 980 and the ESD-6500. I”m not trying to drive up visits to my opinions, but these two articles contain some very important information about who I am, and some extremely useful discussions about police traffic radar that tie in well with any discussion of radar detectors. It may even be best that you read those articles before reading this one!! Many thanks)

Solo RD5510 Still Detects, But Beginning to Show its Age. **see update Escort Passport Solo Radar Detector

I’ve been one of several loyal customers in my family, dating back to Cincinnati Microwave’s glory days…they’ve earned my respect for the quality %26 performance of their radar detectors. The previous one I owned was the first cordless unit produced, given to me some 10 years ago. I think they’ll have to carbon-date the thing someday it’s so well-built: despite some coating peeling off the casing, it’s still works like new. They did make some easy money off of me for having to replace all the stupid visor clips I broke…I stopped counting after 3. But a couple of years ago I had the opportunity to upgrade to the then- latest radar/laser detector–the RD-5510. Not really needing to, I upgraded, anyway, just to have the newer technology.

Bel Express 946Li: A Cordless That Actually Performs! Beltronics BEL 946 Radar Detector

Before I start out writing this review, I would just like to say that many people who are very serious about radar detectors would never buy a cordless. I have so far used only the and S2 before I used the Bel, but it was quite a fun test.

The S2 cordless radar detector is ideal for the person who is constantly in and out of rental cars, or just wants the easiest-to-use radar and laser protection. The S2’s power management circuit has also been redesigned to give you the longest battery life possible. It constantly watches the condition of your batteries and reminds you to replace them before it’s too late. S2 uses only a fraction of the power used by conventional corded radar detectors. Using 2 standard AA batteries (included), the S2 provides months of normal driving protection. A low-battery warning circuit keeps constant watch on the condition of the batteries, and provides you with both audible and visual alerts before they need to be replaced. We’ve also added AutoPower feature (programmable), which conserves battery life by automatically turning your S2 off when not in use.

Convenient But Lacking In Many Ways Escort Solo S2 Radar Detector

Over the past 18 years, I’ve always driven with whatever the “best” detector was at the time. For the past 12 years, I’ve used nothing but a . And while I love the V1, I really wanted something that I could easily install in my new car (i.e. no power cable to install) and that I could take with me when I travel. So I bought the S2 under the 30 day test drive program and installed both the S2 and V1 in my car to do a comparison. After trying both, I’ve decided to send back the S2 and upgrade my V1. Here’s why:
