Since there is not much first-hand information available about new Beltronics Bel RX65 radar detector I decided to share my short experience with everyone.
We needed another radar detector for the second car. I’ve been using Passport 8500 for a year now (chose it over V1 after careful testing both units) and was more then happy with it - saved my b@tt on several occasions. Love the multiple threat display - works like a spectrum analyzer.

Bought a RX 65 last month to replace a Cobra that had lost it’s voice(??). Did my home work for 3 weeks, and started out believing I needed a V-1 but it became clear that the RX65 was a better product for a lot less $$. I picked a NIB RX65 off ebay for $225 shipped from Canada (not a clone either, be careful!). It is amazing the difference between my old one and this. 1/5 of the false city alarms and 4x the distance sensitivity to Ka. This thing even picks up back scatter Ka around turns!?!. I had read reviews that reported this to work around corners before but we all know RADAR is direct line of site (LOS) and that is not possible but the sensitivity to back scatter is amazing. When the RX65 alerts, you now have to find the source. It is out there, it might be a mile and a half in front of you or 1/4 mile to your left/right or rear but it is definatly there! My old 6 band system only looked ahead and alerted at danger close range. I am much more relaxed and confident driving with this box. Might not be the best (arguably) but bang for the buck it is all I need. I have been using RADAR detectors for near 30 years and I have finally arrived. I mouted it high in the windshield above the rear view mirror in a 01 VW Jetta with a DIY hard wire. It is not visible from the front. Lost 270 degree of LASER coverage due to mounting position covers the on top LASER “eye”. Still have full frontal LASER coverage but w/o a LASER jammer, when it alerts to LASER, you might as well just pull over since it is an after the fact event. Buy with confidence and don’t pay over 300 from any place, shop around.

The Escort Passport 7500 in the pre-Escort Passport 8500 days sucked miserably. It was put up against the Valentine One, and offered horrible performance, hell, there were a lot of much cheaper detectors that still killed it. Well, after the 8500 came out, Escort gave the Passport 7500 a face-lift, the new model being the Escort Passport 7500S which they call turbo charged. Well let me say this, the Escort Passport 7500S is a much better improvement compared to its predeccessor, but coming in at $229.99, it’s one of the more expensive radar detectors out there, so here’s what I found with it.

Having owned and operated radar detectors including top of the line Beltronics and Valentine One for quite some time, I have recently noticed a dramatic increase in laser use throughout the East Coast and the rest of the US. There is nothing worse than getting a ticket from state troopers who don’t care about safety, but rather care about meeting their ticket quota for the day. Let me introduce to you the Blinder Extreme M20 AND M40, the best Laser countermeasures on the market today. If you commute on any public highway for a significant amount of time, Im sure you have experienced laser activity on the road. Before I explain why the Blinder is superior to the rest of the products out today, take a moment to see why laser is so much harder to detect than radar.

OK, let me try and clear a few things up seeing as how some members took it upon themselves to be the “epinions Police” and go rate ALL my reviews as unhelpful. Like I said before, I have THREE friends that own these “detectors” and not one of them even bothers to put it in his car and plug it in anymore. I have used their detectors in MY CAR, I have ridden countless miles in their cars while the detector was in use and I have used their cars while the “detector” was in use. I have also done plenty of research into this company and their products. The fact of the matter is this, these so called “detectors” DO NOT WORK well at all. They are built by the owner of RM in his basement. By posting the way I did I was hopeing to be able to help consumers make a sound decision BEFORE they learn the hard way but the “Epinions Police” feel differently. Just because I don’t actually own one doesn’t mean I don’t have any experience with them. I am quite familar with Rocky Mountain products and to be honest this guy should be put in Jail!! A friend of mine bought this unit thinking he was safe, think again! He got a ticket within the first week of ownership(He said the detector didn’t go off until the Police Officer had him pulled over!!)and Rocky Mountain fought him tooth and nail when he tried to get them to honor their so called “we’ll pay your ticket” warranty. They never did pay him one dime. They don’t detect much and they will jamm nothing except you!
Now just to clear things up a bit on RM’s claim that some of their detectors also jam Police radar and laser, these detectors have NO ABILITY WHAT SO EVER TO JAM RADAR OR LASER. It is highly illegal in all 50 states to use or posess any type of Radar jamming device. You can posess a Laser Jammer but not Radar.

The Bel Pro RX65 is one of the top detectors that Beltronics offers other than the Vector series. But there’s one nice thing about the Bel Pro RX65, and that’s that it’s Escort bred. It appears to be a detector that will take over from the already aging Escort Passport 8500. Well, as for some people have had the 8500 from the start, one I know has already sold their Passport 8500 for a newer Bel Pro RX65. After getting a chance to take this bad boy for a spin, I was pleasantly surprised. Here’s what I found.

It’s not very often when I get to check out remote units on hot cars. Well, the K40 is well known for making hidden remote units. They are more known on the market than Escort or Beltronics with their detectors. Many owners of exotic cars such as Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghini, and other brands often like to put in the most expensive detectors possible in their cars. After a fun and exciting adventure, here’s what I found with the K40 2000P.

If you read up on the Rocky Mountain RMR-C450, the radar detector looks absolutely amazing on paper. It seems to do just about everything you can expect a top-end radar detector to do, or at least what Rocky Mountain claims it to be. Then you’ve got Rocky Mountain’s scrambler system integrated into this system (Which sets it apart from the RMR-D550) and boosts the MSRP up by $50 compared to the cheaper RMR-D550. The scrambler is supposed to jam X, K, Ka, and laser bands. Wow! The Rocky Mountain RMR-C450 seems to be absolutely perfect! But when I witnessed one in action in a 1995 Camaro Z28, how did it stack up in the real world?
