Silver Bullet More like a plastic thumb tack Sensoro Silver Bullet RX7500 Radar Detector

I purchased the Sensoro Silver Bullet RX7500 as a replacement for my beat-up Sensoro Traveller cordless radar detector. At a mere 75 dollars at Costco, I thought the Silver Bullet would be an inexpensive upgrade to my Sensoro Traveller. Alas, after four months of ownership, I have learned that this wasn’t the best idea.

Aesthetics :

The Sensoro Silver Bullet RX7500 is styled like your typical modern radar detector; it’s a small (1″ x 2.75″ x 3.75) rectangular-ish unit that comes in an ever so popular brushed titanium plastic shell. The PNI Corporation has given the Silver Bullet an attractive design, perhaps too attractive, as it was stolen from my vehicle shortly after I purchased it.

PNI Alpha radar detector/compass Pni Inc. Alph Radar Detector

This would be a very nice radar detector/compass except for the idiotic, non defeatable power on voice announcement “drive carefully, travel safely.” You hear this EVERY TIME the unit is powered up. The “mute” button does NOT defeat this characteristic.

What a shame; what was PNI ever thinking of when they made this power up mode non-defeatable (I confirmed this in an e-mail to PNI).

The display readout is easily readable, even in bright daylight. The ability to turn off X-band alerts is a nice option for city driving.

PNI Sensoro If only it could detect bad drivers… Sensoro Traveller Radar Detector

I purchased my cordless Pni Sensoro Traveller due to one main factor; impulse. Since I already own a 985 and an Passport I didn’t exactly need another radar detector, however my excellent experience with Pni Inc. products and the unbelievably low price of the Sensoro Traveller inevitably lead to the purchase of this unit. I have owned my Sensoro Traveller for almost 2 years now and have found that it stacks up very well against the more expensive competition.
