If you read up on the Rocky Mountain RMR-C450, the radar detector looks absolutely amazing on paper. It seems to do just about everything you can expect a top-end radar detector to do, or at least what Rocky Mountain claims it to be. Then you’ve got Rocky Mountain’s scrambler system integrated into this system (Which sets it apart from the RMR-D550) and boosts the MSRP up by $50 compared to the cheaper RMR-D550. The scrambler is supposed to jam X, K, Ka, and laser bands. Wow! The Rocky Mountain RMR-C450 seems to be absolutely perfect! But when I witnessed one in action in a 1995 Camaro Z28, how did it stack up in the real world?

If anyone out there is looking for a cheap, poorly-manufactured and worthless radar detector then this Rocky Mountain C-450 is for you. Also everyone who wants to “JAM” police radar and lidar then I think you should get this too so you can get a hefty speeding ticket when it doesn’t do a damn thing. If you put a box of rocks on your dashboard I think it would provide better radar and lidar detection and jamming. In all of my years of living I’ve never seen anything so worthless. Like the saying goes “There’s a sucker born every minute” and that is EXACTLY the reason that Mike Churchman and Rocky Mountain Radar are still in business. Let me just say it does have better radar and lidar detection than the Passport 8500……..HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, thats the funniest and yet the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. I’d say that on X band you get about a football field of warning time. On K band the C-450 will give you about 150 feet of detection time. Oh whats that? You want to know how great the Ka band detection is?…… well let me tell you this thing will detect it just about the time the state trooper flicks on his lights and pulls you over. Isn’t that just great!?!? I tested this detector with a friend of mine who is a cop and he just laughed in my face every time he clocked my speed. I can’t stress to you enough how worthless and pathetic this product is. I guess if you need a door stop then the C-450 could come in handy to you because that’s all its worth. Well you want to know how valuable this detector is? IT ISN’T WORTH ANYTHING. Although I returned it, I would have paid the Rocky Mountain Radar just to take it out of my FACE!It is just worthless but hey if you feel like getting robbed then PLEASE buy this product from Mike Churchman at Rocky Mountain Radar so I can cruise by you with my Passport 8500 X50 and laugh at you while the officer hands you a large fine for speeding.

the radar works fairly well if a cop is ahead of you, but if one is behind you, you’re pretty much detected. As far as the jammer, it will jam it down by a few miles depending how fast you go, usually 6-8 miles. But if you’re doing like 90 or more there is no way you will get away because 1. the cop knows you;re speeding 2. you will get a seperate ticket for a jamming device.
for 200 dollars, i think i got what i paid for

So far i just received my rmr c450 and there hasn’t been a problem with detection range or falsing the thing is outstanding it filters excelent has about what radar roy says for range bout a medium at least 3 miles for detection range and that includes ka band i haven’t got me a good test yet on k band but it seems to be doing its job. You don’t want a detector with 9 miles of range like the passport x50 thats outstanding and all for them i give em props but you don’t need that much range ever!!! there would be no point the thing would have to false all the time cause you’d be picking up a cop 6 blocks away instead of the one right in front of you…? makes no sense to me in a bigger citty at all … and second you only want to know if there is a cop in front of you and have 3-4 min to adjust your speed acordingly and not look supicious with your speed. 3 miles is more than enough to adjust your speed..you don’t need 9 10 miles thats outragous. And you wouldn’t be screwed with ka thats bull**** unless you where out in the open alone and had no body infront of you and if your being a dumb a** like that not letting it bounce off of somebody infront of you than you deserve a ticket the detector will not save you from stupidity you have to know how to use it and when and if used correctly it can be a very helpfull tool i am now 22 yrs old used to drive to school every day doing 104 mph in my grand prix weirdest thing never got a ticket wana know why i had a decent detector nothing fabulous just bout in the medium range for sensitivity and range and i always made sure i had somebody infront of me if i didn’t i cut down my speed to only like 5 over and the funniest part?? the high school i always used to go to had told the cops to sit on the roads on the way home and would have any way since they wanted the money and we where easy targets… now the rmr jammer i can’t say much about that i don’t know i am kinda skeptical myself but i can tell you this my dad is a bus driver and if he gets one more ticket he looses his license and his job that he couldn’t afford to loose do to his truck and house payment … and he used to drive truck and he got a rmr c430 so if he thinks its good enough..?? he makes enough money to get something else if it didn’t and he also said he did his own test against a cop buddy of his with radar and his worked so its a 50 50 thing probably you get a good one or a bad one or its like this radar roy is full of sh** in the tv show seen on his site the car he is hitting with radar is obviously to close to the patrol car it is in the jammers 200ft punch through zone?? so what kind of a test is that?? not very fair i say.. and ya radar roy your a retired cop bla bla but think about this for a second people why would a retired cop that obviously wants to amend the law to say no passive jammers, either in writting lol why would somebody like that want you or your buddy to have a jammer that worked ?? might pis* him off right?? so he has a motive here now huh?? ya you heard it a motis operendi there radar roy!! as for the set up of the jammer on the rmr c-450 i don’t care for the set up the only way to tell that the jammer is activated is the start up sequence that is pretty lame. I like the c430’s version of this better where you could actually tell that it was contiously on and when it was jamming at least it gave alert as to it was doing so, so thats my one neg set back on that. The 3 diff modes city 1 no x band at all 100% k and ka is a nice a** feature it rivals beltronics . then you have city 2 which there still is no x band and only 50% k band and ka band which is a nice feature in a town where there is a wal mart every five feet so it don’t drive you f***ing nuts not that it falses anyways?? its great at filtering. Then there is highway with is 100% for all bands and amazingly doesn’t false worse than cobra or beltronics which radar roy says it does i think he got one of the messed up ones of ebay like i got the first time and yes if they are messed up the rmr detectors will go crazy on k band but if they do that immediately send them into rmr to be fixed its only 25 bucks even out of warrenty save yourself the 100 plus dollar ticket….my wife didn’t… but hers didn’t have the radar jammer so thats partially my fault.. and it was broken and half a**..so as a previous owner of a beltronics a uniden two cobras i highly recomend the rmr c450 as long as its right in the head if not send to rmr and get fixed and youll have yourself a bad a** lil detector

Rocky Mountain Radar claims that their radar detectors are the best in the world. I was very excited to purchase my very own (And thankfully returned) Rocky Mountain RMR-D550 to try out against today’s finest radar detectors. This is Rocky Mountain’s “best” stand-alone radar detector. The Rocky Mountain RMR-C450 is more expensive since it features the “scrambler” which dismantles police radar and lidar guns. Well, I haven’t gotten to that radar yet. I will soon though! But anyway, here’s how the Rocky Mountain RMR-D550 has performed in comparison to today’s finest detectors, the Escort Passport 8500 and Valentine One in real world testing.
