Escort, aka Cincinnati Microwave, has been producing a wireless Detector for sometime. The first wireless too was a called the Solo. The unit used a 9 Volt battery and a Security Key to operate. The Original Solo Detected only X and K band, and was good at it.
After Escort took over Cincinnati Microwave, they produced the Solo 4 and followed Solo 5. These units featured X, K, and Ka detection. X and K were respectable, but Ka was highly limited.

I bought this radar detector a few months ago. I must admit that its looks had some influence on my purchase. It looks more like decoration on my dash than a radar detector. I could also tell that the display was large and easy to read in the store, and it said it detected virtually everything known to man. All of that combined with a low price made buy the LRD777 as soon as my awful Cobra detector broke.

Beltronics for the past years has produced Second rate detectors but at reasonable prices. Fighting for first Honors in the Detector Market, Beltronics has put out many models to coupe with changes in the Police Traffic Enforcement Realm.
In the early 90s’, Beltronics had put out a 966ST. This unit provided Good X band, Strong K band, put fair Ka Photo protection. At this time 34.7GHz Radar guns were only 5-10% of the market. Because Ka band is becoming a feared tool for Police, Beltronics produced the 645STi/745STi. Both unit provided fair X band, Strong K and Ka band performance but only adequate Photo Radar.

This device has made my life a whole lot easier. I could have purchased any radar detector made, but the GPS capability was only offered by Uniden and is something I use all the time.
I suppose when I was born, the sense of direction gene most people are born with was left out of me. I can literally get lost going around the block. With an arrow always pointing home (or where ever else I have marked) I know, eventually, I’ll find my way to a road I’m familiar with, and thus, back home. This is especially convenient since I recently move from Mich to NC, and has helped me many, many times.

Over the years I have had radar detectors by whistler, Uniden and Cobra. The Beltronics 940 surpasses all previous detectors. I have gotten fewer false signals, greater range and earlier warnings with the 940.
The Beltronics 940 is what I consider a mid-priced detector. It surpasses less expensive detectors as expected. One great aspect though, is that the 940 keeps pace with more expensive detection units. I have a friend with the Beltronics 985 and we ran the detectors simultaniously and we found no real detection advantage of one over the other. Sometimes his 985 picked up the signal first sometimes my 940 was first to the punch. Considering the 985 retails for $100 more, that the 940 keeps pace is really nice. My brother has an Escort. The same test was done with the same results. Considering the Escort is $100 more expensive it is a feather in the 940’s cap to keep up.

I have had several radar detectors and I am very pleased with this one. This is by far the cheapest that I found for the features it has. In 2001 I paid $50 for this, and in July 2002 I bought a second for my in-laws (for which I only paid $40).
There is no reason to buy a more expensive brand. I decided which features I wanted in a radar/laser detector and then I began looking for the cheapest price, and the Uniden LRD937 was perfect. I have had no problems with mine and it has detected cops using X, K, Ka bands. I was amazed that it had the cloaking feature too!

I had wanted to get a radar detector for quite a while, you see I am what most people call a leadfoot. Nothing extreme mind you, but ticketworthy nonetheless. After sampling the use of a radar detector a friend let me borrow I decided I couldn”t drive without one any more. Soon after that experience I started researching radar detectors. Well, tried to research affordable radar detectors. Sure you”ll spend as much for a Valentine one as you would a speeding ticket (Southern California tickets do cost this much and more) But then again, the reason you buy one of these is because you can”t afford the ticket. Duh! Well ok back to the hunt

The Whistler Corporation, now know as the Whistler Group, has been in the business of detection for little more than two decades. Previous models were simple easy to understand beeping with A bright light flashing in the corner of your eye. With the old CEO out of the picture (redeveloper of Fuzzbuster), the now Whistler Group is developing various featured detectors to catch the Wide Detector Groups.

RADAR DETECTION IS AVERAGE FOR A RADAR DETECTOR, BUT THE COMPASS DOES NOT WORK WELL AT ALL. UNIDEN HAS REPLACED THREE DETECTORS FOR ME AND NONE OF THE COMPASSES HAS WORKED. SEVERAL DAYS AFTER I CALIBRATED THE COMPASS, IT BEGAN SHOWING THE WRONG DIRECTION. EVEN AT STOP LIGHTS THE COMPASS WOULD BLINK FROM ONE DIRECTION TO ANOHTER. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF SENDING BACK ANOTHER ONE. THIS TIME THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE GOING TO REPLACE IT WITH ANOTHER COMPARABLE MODEL. UNIDEN HAS BEEN VERY GOOD AT TRYING TO REPAIR THEM, BUT THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN THE SAME ON ALL THREE THEY HAVE SENT ME.
