I FIRST PURCHASED THIS UNIT IN FEBRUARY OF 2001, THERE ARE A NUMBER OF PROBLEMS I HAVE ENCOUNTERED SINCE. FIRST, THE SUCTION CUPS DO NOT STAY ON MY WINDSHIELD VERY WELL, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT GETS WARM. MY WHISTLER KEPT FALLING OFF MY WINDSHIELD WHEN THE TEMPERATURE REACHED 75 DEGREES OR HIGHER. NEXT, THE VOICE FEATURE BEGAN HAVING A STATIC SOUND AFTER ABOUT ONE MONTH. THIS STATIC SOUND SOON TURNED INTO NO SOUND AT ALL. THE THIRD PROBLEM I BEGAN HAVING WAS THE DISPLAY KEPT TURNING OFF, I WOULD HAVE TO SQUEEZE THE UNIT IN ORDER TO GET THE DISPLAY BACK ON. FINALLY, IN CERTAIN AREAS THE DETECTOR FAILED TO DETECT. I WAS TRAVELING THROUGH MANHATTAN BEACH DOING ABOUT 35 MPH AND A COP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WAS POINTING A RADAR GUN RIGHT AT ME BUT MY RADAR DETECTOR DID NOT PICK IT UP EVEN AT POINT BLANK RANGE.

I FINALLY DECIDED AFTER SEVEN MONTHS TO SEND THIS UNIT IN FOR REPAIR , HOWEVER, I WON’T BE LOSING SLEEP AT NIGHT WAITING FOR MY UNIT TO RETURN BECAUSE I HAVE JUST PURCHASED AN ESCORT 8500 UNIT. HOPEFULLY, MY LUCK WILL CHANGE. AVOID THIS UNIT AT ALL COSTS, ITS JUST A BIG HEADACHE.
