I read the other reviews here that complained about too many false alarms, but I also found some magazine articles comparing this unit to others in the same price range. These articles never mentioned a problem with false positives so I decided to buy it and try it for myself.

I’m very pleased - I haven’t experienced a higher rate of false alarms than with my previous detector - in fact, I’d say this one is better than my older BEL unit.

I haven’t had it long enough to have any problem with the power cord, and I don’t see that being a problem as long as you don’t abuse it. The fact that is is a locking RJ11 connector like a phone line means that it won’t pull out easily like the old style plugs - but I could see that if you yanked hard on it without depressing the locking tab you could do some damage.

Performance wise I’m very happy with this so far. I haven’t had it long enough to take any cross country road trips yet, but based on my driving so far and the magazine articles I found, this detector is one you can rely on if you drive smart.
