Reviews:

Good coverage for the price

Pros: Cordlessness. The rechargeable battery is an awesome option
Weaknesses: The battery does not last long. Corded again after a few hrs
Good for the city and good for highway as well. I’d buy product again. I thought I was hooked on to BEL, but this is a very attractive option.

DE1788

Pros: Battery operated
Weaknesses: False signals
Great unit. The battery operation work well. It so much easier to unhook it from the windscreen after a trip. Also if the battery gets low you can quickly attach the powercord and it will charge in the batteries in the unit. Mixed results in detection. But, any radar detector is not a cure all, you have to learn how to use it. Laser detection worked well on the highway. Highly recommended for the battery option.

Great Wireless for the money.

Pros: Price, cordless or corded feature.
Weaknesses: None so far.
Excellent price and features. Only wireless detector I have found that can be used either with batteries or cord. Easy to use. Only have been using for about a week, but no problems and excellent detection. Minimum false alarms, but good range using the battery.

Whisler Cordless Radar Detector

Pros: Attractive, well built, and it has been alerting me of cop radar. It also has the ability to turn on and off the detection of all of the different type signals it detects.
Weaknesses: It can be too sensitive, give false alarms or a combination of both - Occasionally the unit will shut itself down saying the batteries are dead only after a short time, but in reality they are not.
Having the ability to turn on and off types of detection helps reduce the amount of false alarms that go off, especially around shopping centers, which I think is a nice feature. —

Regarding the rechargeable batteries, for some reason the unit thinks the batteries are dead pre-maturely, thus it shuts itself down. When that happens, I turn the unit back on to see I have plenty of battery life left (the units displays percentage of battery life when the power is initially turned on). —

Regarding the manufacturer, : My detector was shipped without a home charger. I then contacted the company I bought the detector from. They told me that a home charger was not supposed to be included in the accessory pack that came with particular Radio Shack version that I received. I called to verify their story and they said that a home charger should have came with the unit. My initial thought was that now I was going to have to fight with the company I bought the detector from but offered to send me the charger free and did not charge any shipping fees.–

Although I am sure this is not the best detector out there (made by or any other company), but for the money I spent, I find that the value is great and I feel I got my money’s worth. I also like the way handled my charger problem, quickly and without any hassles. Great customer service.

A Great Unit

Pros: All bands detection, including Pop mode. Battery operation that avoids the use of cords.
Weaknesses: None noted yet.
The unit works great. I used it for two trips of 3.5 hours without recharging, and it still reports 80% battery power. For those that report battery life problems, I have a couple of notes: 1) It has a power saver mode that can be changed. It will shut off at an hour unless you reprogram it or turn off the function. I suspect people confuse this with a battery issue. 2) The included battery charger is poor. It takes 10 hours and is not a true “smart charger” that will go to trickle charge at full charge. Pick up a $15 smart charger at Walmat and you will have fresh batteries in 1-2 hours. I have also seen many posts on other sites complaining about high volume. These people need their own telethon. There are 2 volume buttons on the unit that allow easy volume control. It was so nice to set the unit on the dash without any dangling cord. I bought the XTR 280 from Walmart which is the same unit “rebranded”.

Awsome!!!

Pros: So far has been a life savor….best radar yet
Weaknesses: Battery doesnt last very long
On a scale of 1-10..i rate this a 8 and it certainly does the job!!!!I would highly recommend this to anyone like my self looking for a wireless radar….you you enjoyed it as much as i do!

Not happy with the unit.

Pros: Pros: Cordless, includes batteries, and car charger.
Weaknesses: Weaknesses: Gives many false alarms. Unit shuts off even though batteries are charged. Do not include home charger.

I do not recommend this product to anyone in the market for a radar detector. As a suggestion, I will better read bad review and analyze why before bying the same product.

Not happy with the unit.

Pros: Cordless, includes batteries, home charger, and car charger.
Weaknesses: Gives many false alarms. Unit shuts off even though batteries are charged. While driving the unit feel off my dash; windshield clip broke after using it for a week. Do not recommend.
I do not recommend this product to anyone in the market for a radar detector. I feel like I just threw away my money buying this unit.
